Story of Two Monks Crossing a Bridge Funny
The Two Monks and a Woman: a Buddist Parable of Letting Go
The tale of the two monks and a adult female is a well-known Buddhist parable.
And who doesn't love a good old story with a teachable moment?
In one case upon a time, 2 monks were traveling a long distance together. Somewhere along their journey, they came upon a river with rapid, choppy waters and they saw a woman continuing by its margins, unable to cross by herself.
Despite the sacred vow the monks had taken (not to ever touch women), 1 of the monks picked the woman up and carried her across the agitated waters, setting her downwardly safely across the river.
The other monk rejoins them across the river and is shocked and outraged that his traveling companion had broken the sacred vow but stayed silent about information technology.
A few hours pass as the ii monks travel on. The monk who kept silent is, by now, quite agitated and finally interjects: "Why did you lot conduct that women when nosotros took a vow as monks not to touch women?"

The monk, his companion, replies, "I set the adult female downward hours agone by the river. Why are you lot still carrying her?"
